Current status

1/7/2003:

117 nodes of pinkish are up. The remainder are down due to bad Myrinet cards or switch ports.

Back of Pinkish

Each nodes has only 2 wires going to it: power and Myrinet fiber. This makes life a lot easier in terms of initial wiring and maintenance, and it's also a lot cleaner looking.

Pinkish rack doors

As is always the case, we didn't want the rack doors, so we removed them and put them outside.

10/22/2002:

32 nodes of pinkish are up in their temporary location. We stole the power controllers from ed to get them plugged in to ed's old spot.

10/4/2002:

Still no power for pinkish, but we've removed the Myrinet cards from ed and they are ready to be installed. Erik got the front-end up as a BProc master.

10/1/2002:

Pinkish arrived at the ACL in a bit of a frenzy. The space for pinkish had not been vacated, so we had to improvise. To add to the pain, the racks were 44U, and all the doors to the machine room fit up to 42U racks.

Pinkish arrives!

Unloading

Our delivery guy, Danny, and his forklift-drivin' friend unloaded the 6 racks outside the machine room doors with great finesse.

Ron and Greg unracking

As mentioned above the racks were 2U too tall (left), so we removed the doors and began unracking the nodes (right).

Raising feet

Rolling rack

Once the rack were empty, we raised the feet (left) and rolled the racks off the pallete (right).

It took six people to carry each rack into the machine room.

reracking

After each rack was carried in, we re-racked all the nodes. More than a handful of parts were broken or lost during this process.
