SHREK - Simple Highly Reliable Embedded Komputer

Back to Clusters

Technoland sells a cute little embedded board called the EmbSBC 710 that uses the 440BX chipset and other thing we know how to do in LinuxBIOS. It measures about 6" by 8". We will be putting 5 of these in a 2u box.

The SHREK booting LinuxBIOS The SHREK cluster node

Left: The SHREK booting Linux on Ron's desk (post card indicates Linux idle loop). Right: The SHREK as a Geoffrey cluster node. Two switch ports were sacrificed due misconnecting the Ethernet cable on the SHREK (one of the incorrect configurations is on the left.)

Drilling holes in the SHREK case Touching up paint on the SHREK

Left: We are mounting 5 SHREKs in a standard 2u case, which of course is non-standard, so we had to get out the drill. Right: We messed up the paint on the case, so we decided to touch it up a bit (and change the color while we were at it).
