About mpc8540 problem

I had very similar problem with my VIA C3 Samuel cpu and I traced it to 
lack of support for CMOVE. In my case the fix was to change the 
"-march=686" in gcc options to 585 (or less).

Granted it was on xen, but I suppose it won't hurt to check/try if that is 
the problem.
