I've applied the patch.

Still hangs whenever l440gx.ko is loaded. Or even after l440gx.ko is
unloaded, flashrom will still hang at "Calibrating delay loop ..."

Seems like a conflict with memory, since l440gx access a similar address
flashrom does. But after l440gx.ko is unloaded, as to why flashrom
hangs, who knows. But after a cold boot, flashrom will flow through
it's execution without hanging.

Anyways...

flashrom also failed to detect the default flash (STMicroelectronics
256k) but, I replaced the STM flash with one of my DOC2000 chips and
flashrom successfully detected my DOC at 0xffffe000.

Finally.

# modprobe docprobe doc_config_location=0xffffe000

# cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 00800000 00002000 "DiskOnChip Millennium"

I'm guessing the STM flash part isn't in the flashrom source?
