Kernel versions should not matter, but both kernels are patched
(RedHat?) so we can't be sure. I don't trust patched kernels.
gcc version is the same on both the non-working system and the
currently working system. Can you also check the version of binutils
on old and new system? (e.g. by running ld --version or nm --version)
