Not neccessary with SanDisk Extreme III in PC Engines straight
adapter. DMA or not depends on both card and adapter.

Right, that is my experience as well.

My point was that with the same SanDisk card one adapter worked and
another didn't.

I stand by this. It is a simple way to exclude all problems related
to CF.
