Nope, I cannot reproduce on either i386 or amd64 systems. You should try
a fresh checkout, maybe some old files are still around and cause
problems. Also, check if you actually have usr/include/fcntl.h etc.
on your system (in the libc6-dev package usually).

Both libpayload and coreinfo build fine for me, manually or with
buildrom.
