I'm a huge fan of the gizmosphere. It's quite open. If you want a laptop like system, then I still like the $200 Acer C7 chromebook, extremely hackable. I like these two systems because they come with coreboot as their standard configuration. Other folks here will doubtless have good ideas too. ron
