With the SPI versions of the motherboard one has to explicitly give the board name when calling flashrom because it is unable to determine the board type yet.
Reading and writing to the MX25L4005 SPI chip work flawlessly under the proprietary BIOS as well as coreboot. Remember to erase the chip before you re-write it, as described in [[#Burning coreboot|Burning coreboot]].
