Please explain in more detail why the change is done and which
consequences there are or which bugs / problems are fixed.

Also, you're changing the MCP55 code _and_ some board-specific code
for just one board? Will the other MCP55 boards need fixes, too?
If so, which fixes?

Why are the numbers in hex (0xa) with a comment for decimal (10)?
Does it make a deeper sense to use the hex values and not use the
decimal values directly?
