Thanks for digging this up. This patent is a joke:
"Certain variations would be apparent to those skilled in the art, which 
variations are considered within the spirit and scope of the claimed 
invention.". Yeah great.

The description is very vague and not very helpful. I think the only thing it 
shows is that this patent system is a job security program for lawyers but 
not helpful in the advance of the mankind.

The only interesting thing i found is that they seem to use a checksum or s.t. 
to test if the bios image is valid.
