Yes, but status register printing for your chips was in that patch as
well and this is not yet merged. It is entirely possible that we have to
mess with these registers in creative ways.

Hm. That's unfortunate. Not even if you start with a cold boot? Flashrom
may confuse the IT8716F in a way that prevents booting from some slow
SPI chips.

Maybe Morgan Tsai has an image which you can flash with the usual
"replicate the small image n times until flash is full" technique?
