One issue is this:

CONFIG_VERBOSE=y

[root at simnow buildrom-devel]# make
Building TINT...
make: *** [/root/buildrom/buildrom-devel/work/tint/tint-0.03b/tint.elf] Error 2
[root at simnow buildrom-devel]#

That's all I get on this system:
Caos NSA: Node - Server - Appliance (release 0.9/Cato) (64 bit)

but on this:
Fedora release 7 (Moonshine) )(32 bit)

I get all kinds of output.

Marc, you getting verbose output?

you might want to build on 32 bit only.
