Sure, two heads are always better than one :-)
No not specialist knowledge, like anything it just takes a little time
to learn how the code flows.
The best way to start would be to find a board as close to yours as
possible and adapt it.
Unfortunately, I am mid processes on several other projects and won't be
able to get to this until I complete them. Which may be a few months
from now. But if you want to get started, feel free, I am here to answer
any questions you may have :-)
