I think it is a good idea.

I don't think there will be a problem with making it in the EU and
exporting to the USA, as long as the OEM already exports other devices to
the USA. It might cost more, but if it is going to change the industry,
plan from the beginning to go worldwide. The Raspberry Pi was able to
overcome the obstacles.
