as Ron replied, as we have the coreboot toolchain (`make crossgcc`) it
does not really matter. Most coreboot developers I know use Ubuntu,
Debian and Gentoo. Some developers even Microsoft Windows for
development.

So you can choose any GNU/Linux distribution you like.
