Sure, it’s possible and could be done.

As the others, I don’t see an advantage.

But, did you just mean coreboot, or “coreboot based firmware”, which
includes payloads?

If the later, I believe that you can indeed write payloads with C++, if
you know it well.

I have no idea about the size implications though.
